In 2026, the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club Academy remains a flagship for youth development in the Premier League. Operating out of the world-class Hotspur Way training ground in Enfield, the Academy continues to hold Category One status, ensuring the highest level of coaching, education, and player care.

With recent high-profile breakthroughs like Mikey Moore and Jamie Donley, the Academy’s mission is clear: to produce elite talent for the First Team while providing a holistic education that prepares every player for a successful life, whether in or out of professional football.

How the Tottenham Hotspur Academy Works (2026)

The Academy follows the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) and is organized into three key phases:

1. Foundation Phase (Under-7 to Under-11)

Focus is on technical mastery, creativity, and “flair.” These sessions are held after school and on weekends to ensure minimal disruption to the boys’ primary education.

2. Youth Development Phase (Under-12 to Under-16)

Players begin to balance high-intensity training with their school life. To maximize potential, select players from Under-14 to Under-16 now attend local partner schools to ensure their academic environment is as elite as their training.

3. Professional Development Phase (Under-17 to Under-23)

Players at this level are on Full-time Scholarship contracts. They train at Hotspur Way and complete academic qualifications (like BTECs or A-Levels) alongside their football commitments.

How to Get a Trial in 2026

Tottenham Hotspur does not hold “open trials” at their training facilities. Beware of unauthorized companies advertising such events. The primary way to join is through the club’s extensive scouting network.

Option A: The Scouting Network

Spurs employ over 35 scouts who monitor local, national, and international fixtures. If you are spotted, you will be invited for a formal trial.

Option B: Direct Application (The “Digital Scout” Method)

If you haven’t been scouted, you can “alert” the recruitment team. In 2026, digital portfolios are essential.

  • Email your CV to: academy.trials@tottenhamhotspur.com

  • What to include:

    • Player Profile: Name, DOB, height, weight, and position.

    • Performance Data: Current club, previous clubs, and any representative honors (county/school/district).

    • Digital Reel: Links to match highlights (YouTube/Wyscout).

    • Fixture List: Provide dates, kick-off times, and venues for your next 4–6 games so a scout can visit.

Option C: Development Centres & Partner Colleges

For players aged 16–18 looking for a career in sport, Spurs have partnered with several educational institutions to run Football Development Centres. This is a “dual-career” pathway.

2026 Residential Camps & Clinics

For international players and those outside the academy system, Spurs offer high-performance “experiences” that allow you to train under Academy methodology.

  • Residential Player Development (Summer 2026): Held at prestigious locations like Uppingham School, these camps involve 30 hours of training per week from June 28th to August 1st, 2026.

  • Football + English Camps: For international students, these combine intensive training with language study at campuses like Royal Holloway, University of London.

Scholarship Requirements & The “Spurs Standard”

A scholarship at Tottenham is more than a football contract; it is an educational commitment.

  • Academic Standing: You must demonstrate a commitment to your studies. Full-time players are required to keep up with their educational modules to remain eligible for training and matches.

  • The “Standard”: The club looks for specific personality traits: Team Spirit, Friendship, Excellence, Elite Player Conduct, and Persistence.

  • Professional Transition: First-year scholars for the 2025/2026 season include rising stars like Lucá Williams-Barnett and Jun’ai Byfield, who have recently signed professional terms.
