WHEN AND HOW TO INTRODUCE BANANA
Ripe bananas can be introduced to your baby from six months. They should be pureed using a food processor or well mashed with a fork. They are one of the convenience foods as they come in their own jackets; there is also no need to wash them making them less prone to infections. Simply peel, mash and serve to your baby. To prepare as a first food, simply peel, and mash with a fork. A little breastmilk of formula can be added to give a smooth and suitable consistency for your baby.

1. BANANA PUREE
Ingredients
One banana
A little breastmilk or formula
Preparation
• Peel banana and cut into thin slices
• Place in a food processor or blender and puree till smooth
• Pour into an infant plate and serve with the milk.
2. BANANA AND OAT PORRIDGE
Ingredients
One banana
Two tablespoon of oats powder
Preparation
• Place the oats powder in a saucepan with enough water sufficient to cook it
• Put on heat, stirring continuously till thickens
• Peel banana and cut into small dices
• When oat is ready, remove from heat and allow to cool
• Place oat and banana in a blender or food processor and puree till desired consistency is achieved.
• Serve to your baby with breastmilk or infant formula.

3. BANANA PANCAKE
Ingredients
2 ripe or overripe bananas
200 grams whole wheat flour or plain flour
Two raw eggs
Three tablespoon powdered milk or whole or full cream milk
One to two tablespoon brown sugar
A pinch of salt
Half teaspoon baking powder
Two tablespoon butter or margarine
Preparation
1. Mash or blend the banana until smooth
2. Break the egg into a bowl, add in the milk, sugar, salt, mashed banana and
mix together
3. Gradually sift in the baking powder and flour and mix well using a wooden
spoon
4. Add in the water and continue stirring till the batter is smooth and has a
runny consistency. Allow to rest for about 15 minutes
5. Set a non stick frying pan on heat and add a little butter or margarine to the
pan to oil it
6. Gradually pour in the batter lightly till the whole pan is covered
7. Cook on low heat for a few seconds and flip over to the other side to cook
8. Repeat process till all the batter is used
4. OAT FLOUR AND BANANA PANCAKES
Ingredients
100grms Oat flour
Two overripe bananas
One cup whole milk
One egg
One to two teaspoon sugar
Half teaspoon baking powder
Two tablespoon butter, oil or margarine
